I’ve just discovered Atheist Eve, and I’ve got to say, I like her. Check out this cartoon, which I should have known about when I wrote my piece on science and knowledge:

If there’s one thing that you can count on from theists, it’s that they must, at some point, resort to some kind of “appeal to nonsense” to justify god. The simple fact is, there is no way to coherently talk about god. Either god is a natural phenomenon or it is nonsense. If it is natural, why have we no evidence for it? Most sophisticated atheists know all of this already, but I’m always happy to find examples that communicate these concepts on a visual level.
Here’s another great one:

Beautiful, just beautiful. Thanks Hamby.
The following is a bit of a non sequitur, but I’ll slip it in here anyway. Just came across this today.

I remember getting into debates with atheists and leaving with “look, I just believe in God even though it makes no sense” and I remember basically saying that; and getting answers like “Matt, thank you for your honesty” – I didn’t think it would lead to nontheism, but being honest can lead you to all different kinds of places.

Posted by Matt | January 29, 2009, 1:57 pmYes, it all starts with being intellectually honest.I have absolutely no issue with a theist who admits up front that they don’t have the “answers” to my challenges/questions as an atheist.
I have no issue with anyone who believes what they will so long as there is intellectual honesty behind it.
I am afraid I don’t see much of that coming from a theistic point of view.
Thanks, and nice and informative blog.
