How Crazy Will Republicans Get?

A Republican candidate running for Rep. Chris “Craigslist” Lee’s seat in upstate New York isn’t doing his scandalized party any favors. Jack Davis, a local businessman vying for the seat, shocked local GOP leaders by suggesting that the area’s Hispanic farmworkers should be deported, and that inner city blacks should be bused in to pick the crops instead. The thing that’s got my brain spinning is that these idiots still have supporters.  For many years, I’ve actually given the Republican party a lot of credit for furthering their own ends at the expense of those they prey upon.  But they’re just going off the deep end right now.

Barrington Republican Martin Harty told Sharon Omand, a Strafford resident who manages a community mental health program, that “the world is too populated” and there are “too many defective people,” according to an e-mail account of the conversation by Omand. Asked what he meant, she said Harty clarified, “You know the mentally ill, the retarded, people with physical disabilities and drug addictions – the defective people society would be better off without.”

Harty confirmed to the Monitor that he made the comments to Omand. (LINK)

So… busing blacks to the cotton fields, killing people with mental defects… and how about this for the coup de grace?

Kansas State Rep. Virgil Peck (R) suggested Monday that the best way to deal with the illegal immigration problem may be the same way the state might deal with the problem of “feral hogs” — by shooting them from a helicopter. (LINK)

I will give them some credit, I suppose.  At least they’re focusing on issues besides abortion and gay marriage.  Although, now that I think about it, they’re focusing on abortion, too.

A law under consideration in South Dakota would expand the definition of “justifiable homicide” to include killings that are intended to prevent harm to a fetus—a move that could make it legal to kill doctors who perform abortions. The Republican-backed legislation, House Bill 1171, has passed out of committee on a nine-to-three party-line vote, and is expected to face a floor vote in the state’s GOP-dominated House of Representatives soon.

So… let’s do share-cropping, euthanasia, and mexi-cannons.  And while we’re at it, let’s kill anyone who performs an abortion.  And if we do all of that, and prevent gay people from getting married, the country will be a great place to live.

If you made this shit up and tried to sell it as a comedy, nobody would buy it.  It’s too insane.

Irony hits Rep. Hardy for 2045 damage.
    Rep. Hardy dies.
    America gains 1334 experience.

One ray of hope in all this madness–that idiot just resigned. Hopefully we’ll maintain enough accountability to weather this lunacy long enough for a new electorate to take over. One which isn’t such an embarrassment to democracy…
